The emergence of the teeth of a dog, i.e. the moment of appearance of any part of the cusps/crown above the gum, occurs within a certain time interval. This interval may differ individually, between the sexes, and between dogs belonging to breeds with distinct size (giant, large, medium, small or Toy breeds) or skull type (dolichocephalic, meso- or mesati-cephalic, brachycephalic).
This website presents the results of a study on the emergence of the deciduous dentition and the results of a study on the emergence of the permanent dentition. The median ages, calculated on the observed emergence times, and the observed intervals of both the first appearance of a tooth and its full eruption (= its coming in occlusion) in the studied (sub)populations are presented.
